Kindle Paperwhite Cover/Case

I got my Christmas/Anniversary gift early this year. The new 2013 Kindle Paperwhite Free 3G/Wi-Fi!!! I'm loving it! As any wannabe sewist/crafter would do, I decided to forgo shelling out $30-$50 for a cover/case and made my own. I used a thin piece of cardboard from an old keyboard box and an old pleather trench coat I had since high school and, after some serious debating whether or not to keep it as is and hope for the best that I'll one day be able to wear it again, cut it up and proceeded to fashion myself a unique case for my new treasure! Only thing I need to do, is replace the small Velcro dots for one to two larger pieces.Take a look!

Tea Wallets

My mother commissioned me to make Tea Wallets for her to use as hostess gifts for her business. I'm very happy with them! Here are the first 8.

Sewing Table Mat

I got frustrated with getting scratches all over my sewing desk every time I pinned something to sew up. This was my solution. I used an old pillowcase that had extra back fabric (to fully enclose the pillow, which I removed) and lined the inside (for padding) with an even older, worn out, plush blanket and sewed it shut. I also attached straps, made from the extra back fabric mentioned above, to hold it onto the desk. I slipped it over the legs and up onto the top. I then secured the right side to the legs with 2 straps also made from the extra back fabric (so as not to slide around). Now, when I sew, I will no longer have to worry about getting scratches or pencil marks all over my nice wood desk and nothing will slide or roll off!

I Wish I Could, But...

I just can't!!! Most are for Christmas gifts and if I post pre and post pics, the recipient(s) will know exactly who it/they are for... I have the outlines done though! Just need to transfer and burn them into the final product! Just you wait!!! I know I can't! Until then, I'll be doing other little projects to keep me occupied!

A Stitch Here & There

Today I worked on my husband's clothes. Hemmed his work pants and a pair of shorts, both of which were ripped in the crotch area, and shortened a new pair of pants so he's not walking or tripping on them. So, a good and productive day! Not going to bother posting pics for this one.

Wine Bag

Okay, with the scrap fabric from the last project I decided to make a simple Wine Tote Bag as an added gift with the wine. I cannot name who this is for for fear that they will see this and the surprise is lost. Anyway, here it is! After it was completed I realized I probably should've used a different color fabric for the ties, but oh well!

Tea for Me!

Okay folks, this was my VERY FIRST TIME using a sewing machine! I made this 8 Bag Tea Wallet. Button closure and all! I used 3 different presser feet: General Purpose, Buttonhole, & Button. I planned on taking pictures throughout the project process but got excited while it was coming together and forgot...
I think it turned out extremely well, for a first-timer! See for yourself!

Button, Button, Who's got the Button?!?

First order of business... Getting my husbands nice, new shorts a chance to be worn this summer! I replaced his button so that he may finally make use of this fantastic pair of shorts! They've been sitting in the 'mend' pile for over a year... Yes, I know, sad... But tomorrow they make their glorious debut under the hot summer sun!
